WeTransfer is the better pick if you only need to hand over files now and then. Filmara is built for a lab's whole day. Orders come in from your Shopify shop. A whole order's scans go out in one send, under your lab's name. Customers ask about a photo right on it.
When WeTransfer is the better choice
- You send a few rolls a month and only need the files handed over.
- You send all sorts of files, not just rolls of scans. WeTransfer's Ultimate plan has no limit on transfer size.
- You want to be paid before a file is downloaded. WeTransfer lets you put a price on a transfer. Filmara doesn't take payment for scans.
- Price matters most. WeTransfer's paid plans start at $10 a month, less than Filmara's.

Storage and price
A WeTransfer account can store up to 2 TB on any plan. That's more than Filmara's Studio holds, and less than Lab Pro. WeTransfer's free plan is for personal, non-commercial use only, so a lab needs a paid plan. Filmara plans differ only by how many rolls you send and how much they hold. Every plan has every feature and starts with 30 days free.

Questions
Is WeTransfer free for a film lab?
No. WeTransfer's free plan is for personal, non-commercial use only, so a lab sending scans to paying customers needs a paid plan. Starter is $10 a month and Ultimate is $25 a month (US prices on wetransfer.com, 14 October 2026).
Do my customers need an account?
Not with either. On Filmara, customers open their roll from the email, with no account or app, and download the full-size scans.
Can I keep WeTransfer while I try Filmara?
Yes. Try Filmara with a few customers and keep WeTransfer for the rest. You can send three test rolls to yourself first, with no card.
Which shops does Filmara connect to?
Shopify, today. If you take orders another way, you can still send rolls by typing in the customer's email.
Can I take my rolls with me if I leave?
